The Low Pay Commission (LPC) invites tenders for an econometric study of the impact of the National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW) on employment and hours of young workers aged 16-24, including differential effects by sector, firm size, geography and age. The study has two aims: (1) to re-examine the impact of minimum wage increases on young people's employment and hours, distinguishing, if possible, between the effect of increases to the applicable age rates and the effect of increases to other rates (including the adult rate); (2) to assess the impact of the NLW on young people's employment and hours, covering the period from the announcement of the NLW in July 2015. Sample sizes permitting, we are interested in understanding how employment and hours effects vary by age, sector, firm size and geography. There is additional interest in understanding how the effects vary by level of educational qualification if possible Please ensure you review all attached information to ensure a full understanding of this requirement.
