ESCC LH Workforce NHS Health Checks

Notice Description

East Sussex County Council (ESCC) intends to commission a service provider to deliver an NHS Health Check Service to its eligible workforce, by offering NHS Health Checks in the workplace across ESCC work sites. The service seeks to complement the existing provision offered by East Sussex General Practitioner (GP) practices to their patients, by increasing reach and access to working age adults who may find it difficult to access their Health Check during the working day with their GP. The Department of Health (DH) introduced the NHS Health Check programme in 2009, as a systematic and integrated programme of vascular risk assessment and management for those aged between 40 and 74 years. As of April 2013, Local Authorities are required to commission a mandatory programme of NHS Health Checks to enable all of the registered or resident eligible population to be invited for a Health Check, so that the whole eligible population are invited over a 5 year period. The provider will be expected to provide a minimum of 1216 Health Checks by the project end in December 2018. The service will be delivered in line with the latest best practice guidance for NHS Health Checks issued by Public Health England and NHS Health Check best practice guidance and NHS Health Check programme standards.
