Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is initiating a Request for Information (RFI) titled "Climate Change, Energy and Environment Innovation - British Army Industry Engagement." The procurement process, currently at the planning stage, focuses on renewable energy technology within the solar energy category, including wind-energy generators, other energy supplies, distribution, energy-related services, and energy management services. The MoD seeks to engage industrial and academic innovators to understand current capabilities in the market and strategic approaches for resilience and competitive advantage through energy transition and emission reduction. Responses are requested by 7 February 2025, and the project has a wide geographical scope, including the United Kingdom, British Overseas Territories, Channel Islands, Europe, Isle of Man, and globally.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in renewable energy, energy storage, management, generation, utility reductions, GHG emissions reduction, carbon accounting, and biodiversity. SMEs and VCS entities are particularly encouraged to participate. By engaging in this RFI, businesses can showcase their innovative solutions to a key governmental sector, potentially leading to future collaborations and projects with the British Army and the broader Ministry of Defence. This engagement can drive business growth through the development of cutting-edge technologies and strategies aligned with the national defence energy sustainability goals.
