Notice Title

KMCAS-134 Carers' Breaks

Notice Description

Kirklees Council ("the Council") wishes to commission a service to provide Carers' Breaks and Emergency Carers Breaks within the Kirklees area. This will be achieved by the provision of a service delivered to the person the Carer cares for ("Cared-for-Person" or "Service User"). The tender will be divided into two Lots:(Lot 1) Carers' Breaks Service - The aim of this service will be to provide opportunities for eligible Carers to experience a break by taking over their caring role and providing support directly to the Cared-for Person allowing the Carer to achieve their identified outcomes. (Lot 2) Short notice emergency carer breaks - The aim of this service is to provide emergency carer breaks at short notice, to reduce pressure on Carers when they are struggling to continue with their caring role. The contract will run initially for a period of five (5) years up to 31 March 2025, with the option to extend the contract by up to a maximum of five (5) further twelve (12) month periods. The Contract relates to services that fall under the "light touch" regime and the procurement exercise will therefore be run in accordance with the PCR 2015 as they apply to "light touch". The Council is following a process similar to the competitive procedure with negotiation under the PCR 2015.
