Summary of the contracting process

NEUPC Ltd is seeking to establish a Minor Works Framework Agreement aimed at providing minor building works on university campuses, specifically targeting institutions in the North East region of the United Kingdom. The tender period is scheduled to close on 25th March 2019, with the contract commencing on 15th May 2019 and lasting until 14th May 2023. The procurement method is an open procedure, and the primary industry category is construction work.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that specialise in construction and refurbishment projects, particularly those experienced in working within live building environments. Companies that can demonstrate an understanding of university operations and the ability to respond quickly to urgent requests will be particularly well-suited to compete for this framework agreement, which may also involve low-value new build projects alongside refurbishment schemes.

Notice Title

Minor Works Framework Agreement

Notice Description

NEUPC, in collaboration with Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside Universities is looking to put in place a framework agreement for the provision of minor building works on university premises. Although this requirement originated and is being driven by the North East Universities, it is recognised that other NEUPC members may have a need for this agreement. The agreement has therefore been expanded to capture all NEUPC members. The call-offs from this framework will be predominantly refurbishment schemes but there may be the odd, low value new build as well. The nature of the works will mean that most schemes are delivered in live buildings. Knowledge of the Universities and their working practices is therefore essential, as is the ability to be on site within hours of a request, to resolve any urgent issues - whether during the works or post completion.
