Notice Title
DFID 7870 Work and Opportunities for Women (WOW)
Notice Description
The WOW programme contributes to the Promoting Global Prosperity and Tackling Extreme Poverty pillars of the 2015 UK Aid strategy and DFID's Single Departmental Plan. It responds to the priorities identified in the Growth and Resilience Department Business Plan to deliver programming for economic transformation and inclusion, with a particular focus on improving jobs and opportunities for women across all economic development work. This new women's economic empowerment programme will work in partnership with global and British business to improve women's access to economic opportunities in supply chains, enable DFID and UK economic development investments to deliver better economic outcomes for women, and support the UK response to recommendations for action from the UN High Level Panel for Women's Economic Empowerment. The outcome level objective of WOW is that women have access to improved economic opportunities through business interventions in supply chains and economic development programmes. The indicative outcome level results for WOW proposed in the business case are: Businesses improve women's access to higher-return and higher-productivity jobs and roles in supply chains, with improving working conditions. Women's work in supply chains is made more visible, to improve global knowledge on women's economic contribution. DFID and HMG economic development programmes reach larger numbers of women beneficiaries and improve global knowledge on how to deliver results for women and girls through economic development interventions. The outcome targets will be refined and specified during the programme inception phase, but illustrative results targets are that by 2021: * 300,000 women have improved access to higher productivity and higher return jobs and roles in supply chains * Mapping of where women work, and their roles, in supply chains made available for at least three global commodities * 35 DFID economic development programmes show increases in numbers of women beneficiaries or women reached, attributable to support from WOW programme The Impact of the WOW programme will be increased numbers of women employed in higher productivity jobs and roles in supply chains, with improving working conditions. The contract will be governed by English law. DFID may, in agreement with the Supplier, extend the contract for up to 24 months beyond the end date. This will be subject to agreement through a contract amendment between DFID and the Supplier, and subject to good performance by the Supplier over the course of managing the contract. DFID reserves the right to annul the tendering process and not award the contract. From 1/4/2001 all UK development assistance has been fully untied which allows suppliers from anywhere in the world to bid for DFID contracts. Additional information: All relevant information relating to this Contract Notice can be found on the DFID Supplier Portal where suppliers can register their interest directly.
