Summary of the contracting process

NHS England is conducting the "NextGen Nurse - Getting to Equity" programme, aimed at promoting diversity within senior nursing positions. This initiative is classified under education and training services, with a total budget of £105,000. The programme is set to run from 14 September 2021 to 31 March 2022, following an initial tender submission period that concluded on 1 September 2021. The procurement method employed is a limited approach based on competitive quotations, targeting the delivery of a culturally competent sponsorship programme for 100 senior BAME nurses and chief nurses located in Leeds, England.

This procurement presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in training and consultancy services, particularly those focused on diversity and inclusion within the healthcare sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are especially well-suited to respond, given their ability to deliver tailored experiences and evidence-based frameworks aligned with NHS objectives. Engaging in this contract could enhance market presence and expand service offerings in a pivotal area of public health.

Notice Title

NextGen Nurse - Getting to Equity

Notice Description

The NHS has set an operational target to support BAME colleagues into every level of management, looking to see 19% of future NHS leaders be from a BAME background. Elements of the Getting to Equity Programme have been under development for the last two years. We are now in a position to commission a full programme that would support the business objective. This 6 month programme provides an evidence-based framework for Chief Nurses and Directors of Midwifery (Sponsors) to promote the careers of aspiring ethnic minority nurse & midwifery colleagues (Sponsorees). We are looking for a supplier to provide a culturally competent sponsorship programme to deliver on our commitment to increase the number of BME nurses at the senior level of the profession to a level which is diverse and representative of the broader nursing workforce. This will be available to 100 senior BME nurses and chief nurses.
