Summary of the contracting process

The University of Birmingham is conducting a tender process for "Summer Deep Cleans for Student Accommodation," aimed at providing cleaning services to its various student residences, accommodating over 5,000 bedspaces. This procurement, categorised under the cleaning services industry (CPV: 90910000), is currently in the Tender stage, with the tender period closing on 11th December 2017. The contract, valued between £2.5 million and £3 million, will begin on 1st February 2018 and run until 31st January 2022. This is an open procurement process and suppliers are required to apply for specific lots within the framework agreement, with between three to five contracts expected to be awarded.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for cleaning service providers, particularly those that specialise in deep cleaning and quick turnaround services, which are critical during the summer months when student residences are vacated for conferences. Businesses capable of delivering high standards of service reliability and quality, while meeting contractual performance levels, will be well-suited to compete for this contract. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to apply, particularly those that can manage emergency cleaning services and have experience in the educational sector.
