Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves Cumbria County Council seeking a contractor for the "Barrow Waterfront Hoardings" project, which falls within the construction industry category. Set in Barrow Island, the project site encompasses a brownfield area of approximately 6 hectares, adjacent to Ramsden Dock and the Walney Channel. Currently in the tender stage, the process began with a tender notice published on 16 June 2015, and submissions were due by 3 July 2015. The contract is expected to commence on 20 July 2016 and continues until 31 December 2016, with a total value of £175,000 allocated for this initiative.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in construction and site management, particularly those with expertise in the erection of fencing and site security measures. Firms that have experience dealing with brownfield development, ecological considerations, and urban regeneration projects would be particularly well-suited to compete. Engaging in this project could enable successful bidders to contribute to the area’s long-term regeneration strategy, potentially leading to further engagements in upcoming construction projects within the evolving landscape of Barrow's waterfront.
