Summary of the contracting process

Salford City Council, located in Swinton, is currently in the planning stage for a procurement process titled "MARKET ENGAGEMENT Specialist Short Breaks (Children and Young people with SEND)". This opportunity falls under the social work and related services industry category, with a CPV classification of 85300000. The aim is to provide activities that allow children and young people with SEND to enjoy time with friends and help family carers receive breaks from caring. The market engagement process is underway, and interested parties should respond by submitting their documentation through THE CHEST. The engagement stage will conclude on 7 October 2025. Aspiring participants should note that this engagement does not constitute a call for competition but an opportunity for early input and information sharing.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses operating within the social services sector, particularly those specialised in delivering community, social, and personal services to vulnerable groups. Given the substantial value of £1,500,000, this process could enhance a company's portfolio and experience in public sector contracts. While the opportunity does not prioritise SMEs or VCSEs, larger enterprises with experience in social care and SEND provisions are well-suited to compete in this engagement exercise. Engaging early offers the potential to influence the eventual competitive tender process and establish valuable contacts with Salford City Council.
