Notice Title
Stokesay Castle Interpretation Project
Notice Description
Stokesay Castle in Shropshire, is one of the finest fortified manor houses in the country, built in the 13th century by Lawrence of Ludlow. The interpretation project seeks to improve the visitor experience to the house whilst preserving the special atmosphere and feel of it. It should be noted that Stokesay Castle is not a castle in the traditional sense of the word - it is a fortified manor house. The site passed into the guardianship of English Heritage in 1986 and since that time the only interpretation of the site has been through an audioguide. Most of the rooms are intact but empty. A new caf? and play area opened next to the car park in August 2017 and together with the interpretation project will revitalize the visitor experience, doing justice to this wonderful site. We now seek an external contractor to design, build and install the interpretive elements. We want creative input from the contractor in how our key messages and visitor outcomes can best be conveyed in the most engaging way for visitors. 1. Interior room interpretation and furniture to cover graphics, imagery and 3D design and build up to a maximum of 11 stations around the castle (to be agreed). 2. Family game/quest experience (including room props and printing) 3. Light touch exterior gardens interpretation. 4. Light redecoration and possible new furniture in schools room Additional information: Suppliers interested in this opportunity should register at https://in-tendhost.co.uk/english-heritage/aspx/Home in orderto express interest and download documentation.
