Summary of the contracting process

NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit is conducting an open tender for the project titled "HEP - C Addiction (Treatment in other Settings". This procurement falls within the health and social work services sector and targets the North Yorkshire and Humber Operational Delivery Network (ODN) area. The tender period ends on 7th July 2021, and the contract is set to commence on 1st September 2021, continuing for two years until 31st August 2023. The goal of the project is to deliver a minimum of 500 Hepatitis C treatment starts within the specified timeframe, focusing primarily on the local population.

This opportunity presents significant scope for business growth, particularly for organisations specialising in healthcare services, specifically in viral hepatitis treatment. Firms that focus on patient outreach, treatment administration, and those with experience in managing specialised health services are well-positioned to compete. The need for effective treatment solutions and the emphasis on partnerships with local organisations could create synergies and new service offerings that would attract a broader client base and improve health outcomes within the community.

Notice Title

HEP - C Addiction (Treatment in other Settings)

Notice Description

NHS England is seeking to commission service(s) to serve the North Yorkshire & Humber Operational Delivery Network (ODN) area, to provide patient-finding and access to / support for specialist treatment for Hepatitis C infection. This will complement and work in partnership with the ODN, who will retain overall clinical responsibility and oversight. The service requirements are to deliver a minimum of 500 Hepatitis C Direct Acting Antiviral (DAA) treatment starts during the 12 month period from the service commencement date. We would expect at least 80% to complete therapy and report on treatment outcome 12 weeks after completion (SVR12). These treatment starts should be primarily within the North Yorkshire and Humber ODN, though patients from neighbouring ODN areas (in liaison with the relevant host ODN) can make up to 10% of the total number of treatment starts and, by specific agreement with NHS England, the service can expand to other pre-defined regions and negotiate to exceed the 10% from neighbouring ODNs. The targeting and geographical coverage of the commissioned provision will need to be agreed between the Provider(s), ODN Trust and NHS England, to include specific geographical areas which may have been under-served or specific settings (e.g. Gyms and Image & Performance Enhancing Drug Users).
