Notice Title
Soft Market Engagement - Residual Waste Treatment and Disposal
Notice Description
The Council currently has 2 contracts for the treatment and disposal of residual waste which are due to expire on 31 March 2025. The scope of the current contracts include: * the provision of waste transfer facilities where residual waste collected from residents at the kerbside and at the Council's network of household waste recycling centres is delivered and bulked for onward transport; * The haulage of residual waste to its end destination; * The treatment and disposal of residual waste. The Council estimates it will manage more than 95,000 tonnes of residual waste annually by 2025 and currently 90% of this is treated using available capacity in waste treatment facilities within the UK. We would like, at this stage prior to commencing formal procurement, to seek input from the market as to what the appetite is for undertaking this service and to allow an opportunity to discuss options for the delivery of future provision. Some of the issues we are seeking input on include contract length, market capacity for treatment, waste transfer options, and options to improve the service. Please refer to the attached document for details on how to take part and join us in this early soft market engagement if you are interested in this opportunity. Once you express an interest in this opportunity and provide an email address to us, an MS Teams link will be provided for Stage 1 of this process on July 14th 2023.
