Summary of the contracting process

NHS England & NHS Improvement is currently seeking suppliers for the "Hepatitis C National Testing Portal" project, aimed at facilitating large-scale testing for Hepatitis C in alignment with the UK government's goal for elimination by 2025. This open tender, classified under IT software development services, has a contract value of £500,000 and is located in Leeds, England. The tender period is open until 28 March 2022, with the contract expected to commence on 20 April 2022 and run until 19 October 2023.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in software development, particularly those focused on medical and IT consulting services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community sector organisations (VCSEs) with expertise in developing digital solutions for health services would be well-positioned to deliver innovative products that enhance access to testing for vulnerable populations. Participating in this procurement could contribute to the broader aim of improving public health while expanding business reach in the healthcare technology sector.

Notice Title

Hepatitis C National testing portal

Notice Description

The Hepatitis C Programme is aiming to achieve elimination in England before the WHO target of 2030, and has a UK government aim to achieve this by 2025. Over 55,000 people have already been treated, partly due to a significant expansion of curative treatment capacity utilising new direct acting antivirals (DAAs). However, we need to be able to provide testing on a large scale in order to provide treatment to those who need it. in order to support the work of the ODNs, a web portal is required to allow individuals who would otherwise not be engaged with other services (such as drug and alcohol provision, prison and probation services, or general practice and community pharmacy) to order a HCV test. This also allows for individuals who may have historic risk or who are reluctant to approach their GP, to allow them to order a test discreetly and privately. The portal will also be required to allow those who require treatment for HCV to access it. Interested suppliers should register on the NHS England & Improvement e-procurement system here: https://health-family.force.com/login * Once logged in click 'Find Opportunities' and search for "Hepatitis C National Testing portal"
