Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence intends to procure remedial works to four mast structures supporting British Forces in Akrotiri and Dhekelia, Cyprus. The work covers four distinct interventions: replacing mast MT0019, an existing lattice tower, with a new monopole; demolishing and removing disused mast MT0106; decommissioning MT0265 and installing a like-for-like replacement lattice tower; and comprehensively refurbishing MT0494. The MT0494 works concern a 24.4-metre twin triangular steel lattice mast, including treatment of ongoing corrosion and restoration of its primary and secondary structural components. The overall requirement is specialist mast replacement, demolition and structural refurbishment in very high marine corrosivity conditions. This process is at the planning and early supply-chain engagement stage: the buyer has indicated an intention to procure and has not yet issued an invitation to tender. The buyer’s provisional timetable expects expressions of interest to be submitted by 4 August 2026, invitations to tender on 5 August 2026, tender returns by 28 September 2026 and contract award on 9 November 2026. Work is expected to commence on 10 November 2026 and finish on 15 March 2027. The planned contract is in euros. Companies wishing to participate are expected to complete a pre-qualification questionnaire and expression-of-interest form electronically by 12:00 EET on 4 August 2026. A company that submitted a PQQ within the previous 12 months is expected to provide details of that submission instead.

This will suit specialist steelwork, telecommunications-mast, tower-demolition and structural-repair contractors able to deliver replacement, removal, installation and refurbishment works as one programme. Relevant preparation should include evidence of experience with lattice towers, monopoles, mast decommissioning, structural steel repairs, corrosion treatment and work in exposed marine environments. Contractors will need the resources and technical competence to manage work on structures, including the refurbishment of a 24.4-metre mast and the installation of replacement towers. Firms with established project management, engineering, lifting, demolition and site-safety arrangements are likely to be well placed. The requirement is explicitly considered suitable for SMEs, so smaller specialist contractors may wish to prepare their PQQ and expression-of-interest information ahead of the expected tender stage.

Notice Description

This Scope of Works covers the replacement, demolition and refurbishment of 4No mast structures. The works comprise of the removal and replacement of MT0019 with a new monopole, the demolition of MT0106, the like-for-like replacement of MT0265, and the comprehensive refurbishment of MT0494. MT0019: The scope comprises of the complete removal of the existing lattice tower MT0019 and its replacement with a new monopole structure. MT0106: The scope comprises of the demolition and removal of mast MT0106, which is no longer in use. MT0265: The scope comprises of the decommissioning and removal of the existing mast MT0265 and the installation of a new lattice tower on a like-for-like basis. MT0494: The scope comprises of the comprehensive refurbishment of the existing 24.4m high twin triangular steel lattice mast MT0494, with the objective of arresting ongoing corrosion, restoring the performance of the primary and secondary structural components, and extending the service life of the asset under the prevailing very high marine corrosivity conditions (C5-M). The Provisional Key Tender dates for the project are as follows: - Expression of interest: Friday 24/07/2026 - Expression of interest return: Tuesday 04/08/2026 - Invitation to Tender: Wednesday 05/08/2026 - Tender Return Date: Monday 28/09/2026 - Contract award: Monday 09/11/2026 - Commencement of work: Tuesday 10/11/2026 - Completion of work: Monday 15/03/2027 The currency of this project is Euro (EUR). The location of this project is Akrotiri & Dhekelia, Cyprus (British Forces). Additional information: Any company wishing to participate in this tender should complete the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) and the EOI form which are attached and return them electronically to the above email address by no later than 12:00 EET on 04/08/2026. For companies that have submitted a PQQ within the last 12 months, there is no requirement to re-submit it. They must provide the details of their last PQQ submission to guarantee inclusion on the invitation list.
