Notice Title

Wolverhampton Interchange Programme - Cost Management

Notice Description

The Wolverhampton Interchange project is a partnership between Wolverhampton City Council, Neptune Developments, Centro, Network Rail, Virgin Trains and the Canal & River Trust. The programme is made up of the following projects: Station Multi-storey car park: An expanded car park, incorporating improved public realm on the approach to the railway station. Station Phase: The railway station building will be redeveloped to provide 21st century facilities, delivering an improved passenger experience through the relocation of the main entrance and concourse area, new retail space and better security as a result of the introduction of ticket gates. Tram Extension: The existing Midland Metro tramway to central Wolverhampton will be extended to the railway station via a new stop at the bus station. This will improve interchange between the three modes of transport in the city: bus, rail and metro. Steam Mill: The Council has been working for some time with the owners of the Steam Mill (Gladedale) to try and resolve the safety issues and reopen the adjacent road which was closed following fire damage to the Grade II Listed structure. The Steam Mill site is an important factor in the development of Phase 2 where demolition of the steel-clad element of the building will allow for the extension of the Metro line. Block 9, Interchange: Sitting adjacent to Block 10, Block 9 forms the next phase of the commercial development of Interchange. Hotel/Banana Yard/Broad Street Wharf: Provides the potential for further commercial development proposed on the Network Rail land freed up once the development of the station has taken place. Wolverhampton City Council requires the appointment of a Programme level Costs Manager to provide independent support to the Council and primarily challenge/co-ordinate the sub projects. Additional information: The procurement was a quotation procedure where 4 companies were invited.
