Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence procured maritime post-design and technical support services for Royal Naval platforms. The requirement covers Technical Support Products delivered through the Power, Propulsion and Auxiliaries team within Defence Equipment and Support, which provides global support to the Royal Navy. The work falls within technical support services (CPV 71356300) and is a services contract. Delivery may take place across the United Kingdom, Europe, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, British Overseas Territories and the rest of the world. The requirement supports naval platforms and reflects the possibility that the size of the HM Naval Fleet may change during the framework’s life. The wider arrangement established suppliers for post-design and technical services, with this procurement addressing a technical support products requirement.

This procurement has been awarded and the tender is complete. It used a selective restricted procedure above threshold under the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011. The tender submission deadline was 1 July 2026 at 22:59. The award was made on 21 July 2026 to Scott Aerospace Limited for £509,564, inclusive of the stated GBP currency. The contract period runs from 6 August 2026 to 15 April 2027. The requirement was competed as a framework mini-competition for the technical support products stream. The wider framework has 28 suppliers, with mini-competitions held throughout its life. The procurement was identified as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises and voluntary, community or social enterprises.

This award shows demand from the Ministry of Defence for specialist maritime post-design and technical support products serving Royal Naval platforms. A credible future competitor would need the technical capability to support naval power, propulsion and auxiliary systems, and to deliver dependable engineering outputs for an operational defence customer. The requirement may suit SMEs and voluntary, community or social enterprises, while the awarded supplier’s scale indicates that established capacity and the ability to manage technically demanding work are important. Suppliers would also need to operate across the United Kingdom and potentially international locations, understand defence-sector assurance and commercial requirements, and engage effectively with a framework-based route involving mini-competitions rather than a single one-off procurement.
