Early Market Engagement NHS Health Checks PROGRAMME
Notice Description
NHS HEALTH CHECK PROGRAMME This is a notice of intent to publish a future tender opportunity. The national NHS Health Check programme was launched in England in 2009 to provide vascular risk assessment checks for those in the 40 -74 year age group, to be implemented appropriately according to the needs of the local population. Residents attend a face-to-face consultation where they answer a series of questions, and tests are carried out to determine their risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. Local Authorities have been responsible for the programme since 2013 in order to offer the risk assessment element of the NHS Health Check to their entire eligible population every five years, improve the percentage of people taking up the offer, working towards an aspiration of 75% of those offered a Health Check (or 15% each year of those eligible). Going forward the service must take into account emerging developments around Digital NHS Health Checks (to complement face to face provision), engaging with hard-to-reach communities via the Healthy Inequality Community Champions, and providing relevant information regarding HIV & STI screening, PrEP and point-of-care HIV testing. Lewisham are looking to commission a provider to deliver the contract over a duration of 3 years from 1st April 2023 with an option of a 2 year extension. The Procurement Process will start in September 2022. Providers will be expected to evidence social value as part of their bid - this is the additional value on top of the contracted service that providers create for the local economy, communities, and local area. Further information will be included in the tender pack.
