MPS is seeking training ammunition to compliment the recently awarded Ops Ammo. 9 x 19mm (operational ammo is 147 grain) (rough MPS usage estimate 1.7m - 2m per year) . 115 - 148 grains TFMJ (low tox) non hollow point projectile in a brass case . Frangible type round also required for steel plate targets . Should a suitable lead free frangible type round be identified then it may be acceptable as a single general purpose training round 5.56 x 45mm (.223) (operational ammo is 62 grain) (rough MPS usage estimate 500k - 750k per year) . 50 - 70 grains TFMJ (low tox) non hollow point projectile in a brass case . Frangible type round also required for steel plate targets . Should a suitable lead free frangible type round be identified then it may be acceptable as a single general purpose training round 7.62 x 35mm (300BLK) (operational ammo is 111 grain) (rough MPS usage estimate 180k- 200k per year) . 105 - 125 grains TFMJ (low tox) non hollow point projectile in a brass case . Frangible type round also required for steel plate targets . Should a suitable lead free frangible type round be identified then it may be acceptable as a single general purpose training round This will be a National Framework available to all UK police forces.
