Notice Title

PHE - Web Responsive and Push Notifications Strategy

Notice Description

As browser capabilities improve, there is a growing movement towards Web responsive apps that enable traditionally "native" capabilities like responsive experiences, push notifications, offline storage and potentially open mobile app experiences to a larger audience. In order to safely test this approach, PHE would like to extend one of its existing, successful mobile apps - Easy Meals, which has a single Appcelerater (www.appcelerator.com) codebase and a Wordpress CMS. This would act as a proof-of-concept to test the viability of delivering this service as a web responsive app, ensuring optimal user experience on multiple devices and assessing the technical implications of delivering in this manner. In order to ensure PHE maintains ongoing engagement with users, PHE would like to incorporate push messaging capabilities into our growing portfolio of mobile apps and digital tools. Push messaging has been a key tactic for motivating and communicating with the public while strengthening the PHE brands and responding to user needs in an on-going way.
