Re-procurement of Health Language software licences & support. NHS England develops, maintains, distributes and licences the UK OPCS-4 procedure statistical classification as the UK national release centre on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). OPCS-4 is used by NHS front line organisations to classify hospital interventions and surgical procedures into alphanumeric codes. The coded data is designed to support and assist in the management of healthcare services at a local level and enable informed analysis of medical data at a large scale for national trends it also provides the underpinning data for hospital reimbursement NHS England licenses the authoring platform so the classifications team can undertake authoring, maintenance and release of the national OPCS-4 codes. The team are part way through the latest 3yr lifecycle for the authoring of the categories and subcategories to deliver the latest release of OPCS-4 that enable statistical presentation for data comparability and hospital reimbursement.
