Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process, titled "Archaeology Framework," is conducted by Highways England, located in Bedford, England. This initiative falls within the site-investigation services industry and aims to establish a framework of archaeological expertise for future road projects. The tender, which follows an open procurement method, has a contract period that commenced on 7 April 2021 and will run until 6 April 2025. Although the tender period ended on 14 September 2020, the award was announced on 23 February 2021 with a total estimated value of £250 million, encompassing multiple lots for varying project scales and values.

This framework presents significant opportunities for businesses in the archaeology and related sectors looking to engage with Highways England. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to apply, given the project's focus on capacity-building relationships and driving savings across programmes. Companies that specialise in archaeological consultancy, site investigation services, and related fields would find this tender well-suited for their capabilities, offering a chance for substantial growth through consistent project engagement over the next four years.
