Notice Information
Notice Title
Barriers to Children Visiting Green Spaces
Notice Description
The key aim of this project is to produce a report on the barriers to children of visiting the natural environment, particularly focussed on the 1 in 9 children who we know do not visit green spaces. The report should help us to understand the barriers that exist to these children visiting green spaces and the behaviours that influence decision making. This should encompass urban green spaces as well as rural landscapes, including parks, school playing fields, community gardens/allotments, paths, rivers, lakes, canals, woodland/forests, farmland and beaches. The research should focus on children themselves, as well as others whose behaviours could influence children's access to green space. The project should focus on children aged 0-4 and 5-11, considering these two groups separately. The research should review existing evidence on barriers and behaviours and develop this to explore the most significant barriers and associated behaviours in more depth. Further to this in recommendations and discussion it should also include thoughts on how these can be overcome, for whom and by whom. The research should assess barriers and behaviours for children, reflecting differences across different sectors of society (geographical locations, religions, ethnic groups, socio-economic groups). Additional information: Please note that Defra procurement uses e-tendering, provided by Bravosolutions. In order to access the Bravo system you will need to be registered. Could I therefore request that you register on the Bravo portal for Defra. If you're already registered on the Bravo portal please check that your registration includes Defra, as you have to specify us in order to correctly receive the tender documents. If you have any problems with the registration process, please contact the Bravo helpline on 0800 368 4850 or alternatively email them at help@bravosolution.co.uk.
