The Health and Social Care Act 2012 makes provisions for a local Healthwatch service to act as the consumer champion for health and social care services and gives each local Healthwatch service its statutory functions. As a statutory watchdog, the role of a local Healthwatch service will be to ensure that health and social care services, and the local governance of such services, have regard to the views and voices of service users in the design and delivery of local services. The Council wishes to engage with the market to ascertain its current position relating to the delivery of such services. Please note at this stage it is not a call for competition.
