Summary of the contracting process

The London Legacy Development Corporation is inviting proposals for the "Creative Engagement Services" project, focusing on community arts in East London in celebration of the centenary of women's suffrage. The contract, valued at £29,200, was awarded following an open procurement process, with the tender period concluding on 13 March 2018. The contract is set to commence on 26 March 2018 and will run until 31 August 2018, making it an excellent opportunity for artists and arts organisations to engage with the local community.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and arts organisations to contribute to a culturally meaningful project that enriches the community’s understanding of its history and contemporary issues. Companies specialising in community engagement, artistic collaboration, or public art installations would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract, as it seeks innovative approaches to bring local residents together through art and dialogue.

Notice Title

GB-London: Creative Engagement Services

Notice Description

The LLDC is looking to appoint an artist or arts organisation to develop an engaging and insightful community arts project in East London, as part of the celebrations of the centenary of women's suffrage in Britain. East London was a key site in the history of industrialisation, the labour movement, and the movement for women's rights in Britain. But what is the legacy of these experiences? Has the right to vote led to political participation and action? What are the defining issues that shape women's lives in east London today? What does work mean to East Londoners today? How should work 'work'? The overarching aim of this creative community engagement brief is to deliver a high quality, thoughtful, and inspiring arts engagement project, which makes east London residents interpreters and agents of their neighbourhood's history and present, as well as making them active partners with cultural institutions at the Waterfront. It is envisaged that this project will be launched as part of a planned CED co-curated event about the suffrage centenary and women's rights in July 2018. The project should culminate in a creative 'product' or output. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
