Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Education is initiating the NRS Digital Partners Framework under the planning stage of its procurement process. This tender aims to provide digital delivery services for the National Retraining Scheme, designed to assist adults in retraining for better job opportunities, particularly in light of evolving economic landscapes and automation. The market engagement notice was published on 28 August 2019, with a key engagement deadline set for 26 August 2020. The project covers a broad geographical area, including regions such as London, the North East, and the South West of the United Kingdom, and involves IT services classified under CPV code 72000000.

This opportunity presents a significant potential for business growth, particularly for SMEs and voluntary community and social enterprises (VCSEs) that specialise in IT consulting, software development, and digital service support. Businesses with capabilities in all phases of the government service design manual, particularly those able to operate from the Department for Education's offices in London or Manchester, would be particularly well-suited to compete. The indicative value of the NRS product pipeline is estimated to reach up to £21 million, highlighting the scale of possible engagement for interested suppliers.
