Notice Title
Socio-Economic Impacts of Quantum Technologies in UK Transport 2030 - 2040
Notice Description
The requirement is to commission a socio-economic report on the benefits of quantum technologies in the UK transport sector from 2030 to 2040. While many quantum technologies are in early developmental stages, there are a broad range of direct and indirect quantum applications of great benefit to the transport sector which can overcome existing challenges and provide new opportunities. There is a need to evaluate the socio-economic benefits to demonstrate how these transformative quantum technologies will deliver economic benefits in the transport sector (for example, by streamlining daily operations and maintenance); and the transport user ( for example, through ease of movement and improved journey times). Currently there has been no work that quantifies the estimated economic benefits of quantum technologies, in the transport sector, to the UK economy or to transport users. We will begin to see quantum technologies become commercialised over the course of the next eight years and this report will help DfT to develop an insight into where the key socio/economic benefits will be realised in the transport sector between 2030 and 2040. This report will also help to provide content for DfT's Vision for Quantum in Transport, a document to be published in Spring 2024.
