Summary of the contracting process

The North West London Clinical Commissioning Group (NWL CCG) is seeking to establish a Breastfeeding Support Service in Hounslow through a tendering process. The procurement, currently in the planning stage, focuses on providing community support services designed to assist breastfeeding mothers in a café-based environment. This opportunity aims to replace an existing contract with the National Childbirth Trust, which is scheduled to conclude on 31st March 2022. Interested providers must engage with the CCG by 4th March 2022 to discuss potential collaborations and service delivery. The procurement falls into the services category, specifically targeting health and social work services within the community sector.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for SMEs and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) specialising in health and social care services. Businesses with expertise in community engagement, breastfeeding support, and education could benefit greatly from this contract. As NWL CCG may transition to an Integrated Care Board (ICB) in 2022, interested providers should be prepared to adapt to potential changes in governance and service delivery expectations while also contributing to community well-being through their services.

The CCG currently has a contract in place with withThe National Childbirth Trust (NCT) to provide the above services. The term of this contract is 12 months, 1st April 2021 - 31st March 2022 (value: PS36,655.00) during which time, the CCG will assess the needs of the service users and consider how (if relevant) it needs to: - Secure the needs of the people who use the services. - Improve the quality of the services - Improve the efficiency in the provision of the services including through the services being provided. NWL CCG is considering options for making future arrangements for these services beyond 1st April 2022 which may involve looking to tender the opportunity in the future. Any capable provider may come forward by 4th March 2022 to engage with the CCG. If it is the case that The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) is the only provider capable of delivering the services described, then the CCG will look to award a further contract to The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) for a further 12 months. During 2022, it is anticipated that NWL CCG will be succeeded by an Integrated Care Board (ICB). Any future contract and/or procurement opportunity may therefore be in the name of the ICB.
