Balfour Beatty - Roads North of the Thames-LTC - Sheet Pile Walls
Notice Description
We are inviting expressions of interest from qualified and experienced subcontractors for the design, supply and installation of sheet pile walls as part of the Lower Thames Crossing Roads North programme. The package includes, but is not limited to: Providing specialist input during the design development phase, supporting the Designer (AtkinsRealis) on constructability, sequencing, and methodology. Design (where applicable), manufacture, supply, and installation of permanent and temporary sheet pile wall systems, including cofferdams. Delivery of all associated components, including connectors, clutches, waterproofing, and temporary works systems. Undertaking temporary works design (where within the subcontractor's capability), including Approval in Principle (AiP), design calculations, and liaison with approval bodies. Carrying out installation works, including plant provision, supervision, and construction sequencing. Producing all required quality documentation, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), as-built records, and handover packs. Coordinating with the Contractor and Designer to manage interfaces with earthworks, drainage, structures, and the wider programme. What We're Looking For Subcontractors should be able to: Deliver an integrated design, supply and installation solution for sheet piling works. Provide early contractor involvement (ECI) input to influence design, buildability and programme. Demonstrate capability in both permanent and temporary sheet piling systems, including complex or constrained environments. Manage construction safely and effectively, including vibration, noise, and interface risks. Deliver works in line with programme requirements and quality standards. Experience & Standards We are looking for companies with: Proven experience delivering sheet piling and retaining wall works on major infrastructure or highways projects. Demonstrable capability in temporary works design and management (or clear delivery model where subcontracted). Strong health, safety, environmental and quality management systems. Experience working collaboratively with Tier 1 contractors and designers. Ability to meet carbon reduction, sustainability, and social value requirements aligned to the Lower Thames Crossing programme. Next Steps If you are interested and would like more details, including pre-qualification requirements and tender timelines, please respond to this notice by 28 May 2026. Additional information: The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is a new road to better connect Essex and Kent through a tunnel beneath the River Thames. Our purpose is to drive a change in how we deliver - connecting people to jobs and businesses to opportunities, leaving a skills legacy for the local community and construction industry, all whilst restoring nature and drawing a new blueprint for low-carbon construction. Our ambition is to deliver the UK's greenest road, and to do the right thing for local communities and the environment. We can only achieve this with the support of our supply chain, and it is therefore critical that for any supplier to be successful in winning work on LTC, they must demonstrate commitments to supporting delivery of our ambitions: * Delivering the works through a 'zero emissions' solution, and not using diesel on site in any plant or machinery. * Supporting us to leave a skills legacy for the local community, by not only recruiting locally, but upskilling your workforce to enable meaningful progression into higher paid higher skilled work. * Helping to facilitate successful opportunities by providing early careers roles, as well as inspiring young people into construction through delivery of STEM engagement.
