Contract Summary
Bedford Borough Council (The Council) is often required to obtain transport at very short notice, including for young people and families due to unforeseen changes in circumstance. The Council wishes to contract with taxi companies able to accept work when timelines preclude commissioning via our Passenger Transport Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS). These journeys will be instructed directly by officers, including in social work teams for a short period of time only. If the requirement is or becomes a long term one, the provision will be advertised on the Council Passenger Transport DPS. There is no guarantee of any or a substantial number of journeys within this contract. Providers must be able to offer a service within the boundaries of Bedford Borough and environs and must provide a service which is fully compliant with the Bedford Borough Council Driver and Passenger Assistant Code of Practice. Taxi companies and drivers must be registered with Bedford Borough Council, and Passenger Assistants must be in possession of a valid badge from Bedford Borough Council.
