All tender information MUST be submitted through the Delta eSourcing Portal. NERC is looking to fund a three-year strategic professional development programme for NERC environmental science researchers to increase their capacity and capability in conducting excellent public engagement with research. The training programme will offer outstanding, effective professional development for those involved. The cohort approach will also enable researchers to learn from peers within their own cohort, and access knowledge and support from professionals and researchers in other cohorts. These networks will be set up to enable communication between peers for the duration of the project and beyond. The multiple group approach will specifically target sub-groups of NERC researchers with tailored training approaches including experiential learning. The researcher recruitment process will specifically focus on barriers to researcher inclusion in the training (specific to each group) and will provide a clear indication of the benefits to being part of the NERC mentoring cohorts programme. The project also aims to co-design a set of free resources which will be published and promoted to other environmental science researchers, other stakeholder groups and public engagement professionals, bringing together learnings, best practice and insight summaries from the project.
