Summary of the contracting process

The British Film Institute (BFI) is seeking to further its Future Film Skills Action Plan through a completed tender titled "Future Film Skills Action Plan Perception Study," which falls within the services sector. This procurement was initiated as an open procedure and represents the award stage. The contract period commences on 25th November 2019 and concludes on 29th February 2020, following a tender period that ended on 7th November 2019. The study aims to assess the efficacy of the BFI’s efforts to address the skills gaps identified in the UK's film sector.

This opportunity presents a chance for businesses specialising in research consultancy services, particularly those focused on economic, social, and market research, to engage with the BFI and contribute to vital industry initiatives. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, as this project aligns with their capabilities to provide tailored insights and actionable data that could influence the future of skills development in the film industry. As such, firms with expertise in evaluating training effectiveness and market needs within cultural sectors would find this a valuable opportunity to expand their portfolios.

Notice Title

Future Film Skills Action Plan Perception Study - October 2019 - AWARD

Notice Description

BFI's five year plan, BFI 2022, includes a commitment to a ten-year skills strategy with Screen Skills (Creative Skillset) to deliver a signposted, industry-backed professional skills framework. The strategy aims to future-proof growth in the UK's film sector. A key strand of the strategy is the 10 Point Action Plan which was developed in response to a Skills Review which examined the skills needs and challenges facing the UK's craft and technical skills area. The Action Plan aims to address a number of challenges and skills issues identified in the Skills Review. The BFI is seeking to commission a study which will examine the effectiveness and efficiency of the processes around the planning and delivery of its 10 Point Action Plan currently being implemented by Screen Skills. More specifically, the study will aim to assess whether the skills gaps and shortages, identified as part of the development of the 10 Point Action Plan, are being effectively and efficiently addressed by Screen Skills.
