Summary of the contracting process

The Kirklees Council is currently in the tendering stage for its project titled "KMC-AS 115 Safe Places Scheme", focusing on the provision of support services across the Yorkshire and the Humber region. The initiative aims to enhance a community Safe Places scheme designed to assist vulnerable individuals, particularly those with learning disabilities and the elderly. The tender was published on 12th January 2018, with a closing date for submissions set for 12th February 2018. The contract, which has a total value of £40,000 over two years, is expected to commence in April 2018 and conclude in March 2020. This procurement employs an open procedure method, making it accessible for wide participation.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those within the social care and health service sectors, to expand their service offerings and engage with community-focused projects. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly well-suited to apply, as they can leverage their expertise in providing supportive services to vulnerable groups. Engaging in this scheme not only aids in business growth but also contributes positively to societal welfare in Kirklees.

Notice Title

KMC-AS 115 Safe Places Scheme

Notice Description

Quotations are required for the provision of the Safe Places scheme across Kirklees. Over the last 6 years, Mencap in Kirklees (the current Service Provider) have developed and established an effective Safe Places scheme across Kirklees, currently with 138 sites (successfully evidenced by the logo displayed) and 544 members. Safe Places schemes by definition are venues in the community where people can go if they are feeling unsafe confused or distressed for whatever reason, or are experiencing what might be described as a hate crime. People at Safe Places scheme venues will have received training and will be able to help. We are interested in continuing to develop the Safe Places scheme which is Kirklees wide. The project is aimed at all vulnerable client groups especially people with a learning disability, elderly people with dementia and potentially any vulnerable disabled person from the age of 16+. It is envisaged that the contract will take place over 2 years from April 2018. There is a fixed annual budget for the project of no more than PS20,000 (This equates to PS40,000 over the two years).
