Summary of the contracting process

The Environment Agency is currently in the planning stage of the procurement process for the project titled "Early Engagement Water Environment Worker Apprenticeship". This initiative falls within the technical training services industry category and aims to develop a new apprenticeship standard, expecting to recruit around 200 apprentices annually across various locations in England. Key dates include the engagement end date set for 1st November 2018, where interested training providers are encouraged to register their interest to receive further updates.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in training services, particularly those that can provide national coverage or manage local consortia for apprenticeship training. Businesses well-suited for this tender should be registered as apprenticeship training providers, either as Main or Supporting Providers, and should have the capacity to deliver training across all counties of England, encompassing a diverse range of geographical areas from the Scottish borders to South West Cornwall. Engaging in this apprenticeship programme not only addresses the requirement for skilled workers in managing water environments but also positions providers to tap into the growing need for training in this vital sector.

Notice Title

Early Engagement Water Environmnet Worker Apprenticeship

Notice Description

The Environment Agency is leading a Trailblazer group, developing a new apprenticeship standard 'Water Environment Worker'. We are working towards our submission to be fully approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships over the next few months. Overall, we expect around 200 apprentices a year to be recruited and around 100 of these will be employed by the Environment Agency. They will be located at depots across all areas of England. We are looking for a training provider who can provide either: - National coverage for all of the above - National coverage for the majority of the above, and able to sub contract to fulfil the total requirement - National coverage on area basis (for example, managing a consortium of local providers) National coverage means all counties of England, from the Scottish borders to South west Cornwall. Training providers must be approved to deliver apprenticeships either as a Main Provider, or as a Supporting Provider (sub contractors) by applying to the register of apprenticeship training providers (RoATP). We will be running a webex (insert details) for interested training providers on 1st November. Please register your interest with us and we will send the call details to you. The Water Environment Worker will be a Level 3 apprenticeship which will take 18 months to complete. It will be used by organisations with a responsibility to manage the impact of water environments, natural or manmade, on the land and surrounding businesses and homes. The water environment includes rivers, coasts (the sea), lakes, wetlands, canals and reservoirs. Additional information: Please contact Andrew.brentley@environment-agency.gov.uk to receive dial in details of an early engagement event scheduled for the morning of 01/11/2018 where we will provide more information on our requirements and update you on progress.
