Notice Title

South Cambridgeshire District Council - Water Cycle Study and Strategic Flood Risk Assessment for Greater Cambridge

Notice Description

Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council (the Councils) are producing a joint Greater Cambridge Local Plan which will cover the combined area of these local authorities. The Councils are seeking suitably qualified consultants to carry out an Integrated Water Management Study to provide a robust evidence base for the development of the Greater Cambridge (GC) Local Plan. This will consist of an: * Outline and detailed Water Cycle Study (WCS); and * Level 1 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA). The aim is that this is an integrated study, given the overlaps between all aspects of the water environment and the same stakeholders being involved with both studies. The flooding evidence gathered from the SFRA should be fed into the WCS, and similarly relevant evidence collected for the WCS used for the SFRA. The aim of the Water Cycle Study (WCS) is to look at all aspects of the water environment and ensure that water infrastructure can be managed sustainably alongside the level of growth being identified as the Local Plan is developed. It is expected that consultants will look at: * water resources and supply systems, including non-potable water re-use; * water quality and Water Framework Directive status; * wastewater and treatment provision and capacity; * surface water drainage and treatment; * flood risk management / mitigation (with obvious links to the SFRA) * opportunities to integrate the various aspects of water management
