Summary of the contracting process

The recent procurement process led by the Department for Business and Trade in the United Kingdom has culminated in the award of a contract titled "Contracts Award Notice - Quantitative Free Trade Agreement Evaluation" to Frontier Economics. This contract focuses on economic research services to support monitoring and evaluation of Free Trade Agreements. The procurement method employed was selective, through a call-off from a dynamic purchasing system, aimed at providing comprehensive and methodologically sound insights. The tender was classified under economic research services and the contract, valued at £1,200,000, will span from 5th June 2026 to 5th June 2030, primarily serving the London region. The procurement stage is completed with the award being active as of 12th May 2026.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses skilled in econometric and quantitative research, capable of executing detailed evaluation frameworks and analyses. Frontier Economics, being a large entity, will take on this responsibility, yet the open nature to SMEs and VCSEs implies future procurements of similar nature could be accessible to smaller firms capable of delivering high-quality analytical services. Companies with expertise in economic research, analytical consulting, and policy support would find such tenders beneficial for business growth by aligning their services with government needs and contributing robust insights into trade policy evaluations.

Contracts Award Notice - Quantitative Free Trade Agreement Evaluation

This contract will allow DBT to commission a range of econometric and quantitative research projects as required over the coming years, supporting the production of interim monitoring outputs and full ex-post evaluation reports using approximately up to five years' worth of ex-post data from each FTA's date of entry into force.
