Summary of the contracting process

The Northern Lighthouse Board is inviting tenders for the provision of a new Fire Detection System for the NLV Pharos, as the current system has become obsolete. This procurement falls within the goods category, specifically focusing on fire-alarm and fire-detection systems. The tender notice was published on 3rd September 2019, with the submission deadline set for 7th October 2019. Interested suppliers are required to base their proposals on a forthcoming site visit scheduled for 19th September 2019 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The procurement method employed is an open procedure, with a contract value estimated between £25,000 and £50,000, slated to commence on 3rd February 2020 and conclude by 23rd February 2020.

This tender presents a lucrative opportunity for businesses specialising in the procurement and installation of fire-detection and alarm systems, particularly those with experience in marine environments. Companies that can demonstrate compliance with the Marine Equipment Directive and European Standards EN 54-2 and EN 54-4 would be highly competitive. The Northern Lighthouse Board seeks innovative proposals that can optimise installation costs, ideally utilising existing electrical infrastructure.
