Notice Title

Chesterfield Canal Trust - Main Contractor

Notice Description

The Client, the Chesterfield Canal Trust (CCT), aims to promote the full restoration and appropriate development of the Chesterfield Canal. At the height of its dereliction, the canal had been reduced from a navigable length of 46 miles and 65 locks to only 26 miles and 16 locks. Since 1989, 12 miles and 37 locks have been restored, with only a 8.5-mile gap between Staveley and Kiveton remaining. In 2019, the UK Government launched the Towns Fund, a scheme whereby 101 towns around the country were invited to bid for up to PS25m for regeneration projects. Staveley was selected as one of those towns to receive funding and a portion of the PS25m was dedicated to the canal restoration. Scope of Scheme This procurement process is in relation to the canal restoration works that extend from Staveley to the Doe Lea Valley and include the following: * The detailed design and construction of an earthwork embankment to form the new canal channel for c850m, including water supply, * The detailed design and construction of a new lock structure (Railway Lock), * The detailed design and construction of a new vehicular bridge structure (Bellhouse Bridge), * The detailed design and construction or upgrades of 3km of footways and bridleways, including those to the TPT Bridge, * All necessary 'temporary works' design and installation associated with all of the above NOTE (14/08/23): This scope of work previously included the design and construction of a new bridleway bridge over the Trans-Pennine Trail. This has now been removed and will be the subject of a separate procurement exercise alongside site enabling works, to be advertised on Contracts Finder in mid-September 2023. The contract will be a Design and Build, NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC), Option A. This is a two-stage process: Stage 1 - Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) Stage 2 - Invitation to Tender (ITT) Stage 1 will select 6 contractors to be invited to proceed to Stage 2. The Stage 1 tender process and PQQ has been compiled in accordance with PAS 91:2013+1:2017. The tender documents are available from Matthew Miles. His contact details are: Email: matthew.miles@edgeps.co.uk Mobile: 07467 902200 Please also CC Jon Lindley in all correspondence. His contact details are: Email: j.lindley@chesterfield-canal-trust.org.uk Mobile: 07891624755 Additional information: 14/08/23 - This notice has been amended to alter the scope and change the closing date. The design and construction of the Trans-Pennine Trail bridge has been removed, along with associated site enabling works. Following the change to the scope of works, an extension of 7 days has been applied to the closing date. A further extension of up to 14 days will automatically be granted should any participant ask for it in light of the changed information. Where responses to the PQQ have been submitted already, please note that a further response may be submitted in light of the changed information. The last submission received before the amended closing date will be considered in the evaluation.
