Smarter Tariffs - Smarter Comparisons
Notice Description
Smarter Tariffs - Smarter Comparisons will play an important role in enabling a world-leading smart energy system that competitively delivers secure, cheap and clean energy by supporting smart tariffs which can unlock greater system flexibility and benefits to consumers and the system, across generation, distribution and supply. Aligning with governmental priorities around smart data, clean growth, electric vehicles, smart systems and flexibility, smart meters and half-hourly settlement the project aims to deliver an innovative approach to domestic tariff comparisons. We are seeking to procure consumer research, market engagement and technical development to demonstrate how new smart meter-enabled tariffs (e.g. dynamic time-of-use, export, and electric vehicle tariffs) can be compared and how price comparison websites and auto switching services can make use of this new approach to improve consumer engagement and experience, driving greater adoption of these new types of tariffs and the realisation of PSbillions in consumer, system and carbon benefits. Outputs of the project will include: * consumer and market research on smart tariffs and current approaches to tariff comparisons; * a framework for smart tariff comparisons; * new consumer engagement approaches, across different segments, for smart tariff comparisons; * a data model for smart tariff comparisons; * a web/app-based software prototype; * publicly available reports setting out findings. Additional information: To provide prospective suppliers with the opportunity to gain more detail on the project and identify potential partners BEIS are holding a Supplier Information Session at 1 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0ET on 24 January between 13:30 - 16:00. Interested organisations in applying for this contract please contact either Eve Tatham or Aimee Betts-Charalambous, see above info. The Supplier Information Session will provide attendees with a more details about the project including aims and objectives of the competition and research programme; activities and timelines; application process. The main objectives of the event are to allow participants to ask questions on the project and procurement/ tender process; to allow participants to input into the project aims, approach and structure; to provide the opportunity to network and identify project partners. We expect the project to be delivered by a consortium and the session will be an opportunity for interested parties to meet each other and consider potential partnerships that meet project requirements. This procurement will be undertaken through the HELGA framework and so any supplier interested in this opportunity must ensure they're registered on the HELGA database, see the attachment with instructions for registering.
