Summary of the contracting process

The Oldham Voids Tendering Notification, initiated by Housing 21, focuses on the subcontracting of void properties under their Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract with Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council (OMBC). The procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a budget allocation of GBP 36 million. The contract duration is set to start from 4th January 2021 and extend until 3rd January 2028, with a possibility for a four-year extension. Key services will be delivered within the Oldham area, covering around 1,433 properties, of which approximately 580 are expected to require refurbishment. Interested contractors should note that expressions of interest must be submitted before the planned future notice date of 3rd July 2020.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for growth, particularly for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in repair and maintenance services. With Housing 21 actively encouraging bids from contractors of varying capacities, businesses that can handle both small and large volumes of property maintenance will find this opportunity appealing. The requirement for multiple suppliers (four to six) fosters a competitive environment, allowing firms to establish long-term collaborative relationships, thereby enhancing their operational footprints in the region.
