Summary of the contracting process

Newcastle City Council is conducting the Housing Delivery Partnership Framework procurement process aimed at developing new affordable homes and refurbishing existing properties in Newcastle. This framework will also be accessible to Northumberland County Council, North Tyneside Council, and other local authorities. The procurement is at the Award stage, having been published on October 26, 2018, and comprises three lots: Registered Provider Lot, Developer and Housebuilder Lot, and Developer and Contractor Lot. The expected delivery of approximately 500 to 700 housing units is estimated to be valued at £60 million over a four-year contract period from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2022.

This procurement opportunity can significantly benefit construction firms and developers looking to engage in the affordable housing sector. Companies well-suited to compete include both established builders and contractors focused on residential development, as well as specialised providers of housing solutions. The expected range of projects, from small sites under 10 units to larger developments exceeding 100 units, presents diverse entry points for a variety of businesses interested in participating in this public sector initiative.
