Notice Description

Westmorland and Furness Council are looking to appoint a contractor to undertake a single stage building contract for the fit out of a new exhibition space at the Dock Museum, Barrow-in-Furness. This project will focus on the shipbuilding and engineering heritage of Barrow-in-Furness. The Dock Museum is the lead partner with BAE Systems Submarines supporting a partnership intended to enhance the heritage offer of the Dock Museum. The project has three key aims: to reduce the risk of loss of unique, internationally important shipbuilding heritage; to take advantage of the current opportunities to preserve and share this heritage in new, active, exciting and innovative ways; and to ensure that the project supports the broader strategic aims of the local area to address issues of deprivation, educational attainment, health and general perception.
