Summary of the contracting process

The West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust has completed a works contract titled "WMAS Oldbury 2022 Project," focusing on the construction of a new facility to support its Operations, Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), Training, and Distribution functions. The contract, awarded on 16 October 2020, is valued at £2,000,000 and involves the development of a building occupying between 62,000 and 73,000 square feet on a site of 4.5 to 8 acres in the West Midlands region of the UK. This project is categorised under ambulance station construction work and utilised a selective procurement method through competitive dialogue.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses looking to expand in the construction sector, particularly those that specialise in healthcare or emergency service facilities. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) would be well-suited to engage in this project, given the focus on turnkey solutions. Companies with experience in large-scale construction projects, especially those located in or around the West Midlands, should consider competing for future similar contracts to leverage this growth potential.
