Summary of the contracting process

The Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council has awarded a contract for the provision of supported housing for single homeless people to Midland Heart Limited. The procurement process, classified under health and social work services (CPV 85000000), utilised a direct award method. This contract, valued at £243,041.12, covers the West Midlands region of the United Kingdom and spans from 1st August 2023 to 31st July 2024. The contract aims to deliver support to vulnerable adults over 18 who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness, to prepare them for independent living.

This tender presents significant opportunities for SMEs and VCSEs that specialise in social work and housing support services. Businesses with a focus on social value, those adept at forming partnerships with local agencies, and entities capable of delivering anti-discriminatory services will find this contract particularly beneficial. As the service objectives include reducing repeat service usage and expediting independence for service users, organisations proficient in quality assurance and stakeholder consultation are well-suited to compete in similar opportunities. The initiative also seeks to foster social inclusion and positively impact costs across ancillary services such as health and probation services.
