Summary of the contracting process

The British Film Institute (BFI) is currently conducting a tender for a project titled "Video on Demand research" aimed at acquiring audience data for film and television distributed in the Video on Demand (VoD) sector, particularly Subscription Video on Demand (SVoD). The procurement process is at the Tender stage, with submissions due by 12:00 noon on 21 March 2022. The contract has an estimated value of £75,000, spanning from 15 April 2022 to 13 April 2023. The opportunity is classified under the Data services category (CPV: 72300000) and is open to participation through an established open procedure. The project is set to be conducted in London, UK, and the BFI is looking for established, syndicated sources of data rather than primary research.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in data analytics or audience measurement services, particularly those with established access to VoD audience data. Companies that have experience in providing telemetry for media consumption, including VoD, should be well-suited to bid for this contract. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can particularly benefit from this opportunity, given the nature of the procurement, which invites diverse suppliers to compete for an engaging project with significant impact on future statistical outputs in the film and television industry.

Video on Demand research

Notice Description

The British Film Institute's Research and Statistics Fund ('BFII') is seeking a supplier of audience data for film and television programme audiences distributed in the Video on Demand (VoD) space, with a specific emphasis on Subscription Video on Demand (SVoD). Insight into other VoD services (e.g. catch up, TVoD, EST, PVoD, etc) will also be valuable, along with anything else that places VoD usage within the wider context of film and television viewing. The data will inform future statistics and research to be delivered through the Fund. The chosen supplier will be expected to carry out data collection and quality assurance and deliver a high quality, relevant, dataset in a timely manner. Please note the BFI is not looking for a primary research approach to provide this data, we are looking for syndicated or industry-accepted sources of data that are already established and made available to multiple clients on a subscription basis. Full details are set out in the Invitation to Tender. The deadline for submissions is 12:00 noon on 21 March 2022.
