Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process is being conducted by Public Health England (PHE) for the provision of an Exosome and Macrovesicle Quantification and Profiling System. This initiative falls under the goods category within the detection and analysis apparatus industry. The procurement is currently in the Tender stage, with the end date for submissions set for 13th August 2019 at 23:59:59. The system aims to support research in understanding the role of extracellular vesicles in relation to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). The contract period is scheduled to commence on 22nd August 2019 and run until 21st August 2024, with a total available budget of £25,000.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those that specialise in scientific apparatus and medical technology. Companies capable of delivering advanced quantification systems, especially those that can meet the specific requirements outlined by PHE, would be well-suited to participate. As the tender is open to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), this is an excellent chance for innovative firms to expand their market reach in the health sector by providing essential services that support cancer research and potential breakthroughs in treatment methodologies.

Notice Title

Provision of an Exosome and Macrovesicle Quantification and Profiling System

Notice Description

Public Health England (PHE) requires the provision of an Exosome and Macrovesicle Quantification and Profiling System for use in its Cancer Mechanisms and Biomarkers Group laboratories. The system will be used mainly for elucidating the role of extracellular vesicles in propagating bystander effects and mediating the risk of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) development in the bone marrow. The proposed solution MUST be able to fulfil all of the following requirements: - Be able to quantify extracellular vesicles on a particle-by-particle basis. - Be able to measure extracellular vesicles ranging from 30 nm to 15 microns in size. - Be able to calculate the concentration of extracellular vesicles within a given size range. - Allow for the study of how certain parameters may affect the size distribution in a heterogenous extracellular vesicle population. - Provide information on specific size subtypes. - Be able to characterize individual particles in a sample population, allowing for multimodal samples to be analysed. - Be able to measure the particles' dry size. - Be able to calculate individual particle zeta potential. - Allow for subpopulation determination (e.g. particle number per ml) associated with a given size range. If you feel that you can meet the above requirements, please email kallie.rivers@phe.gov.uk and anna.gibson@phe.gov.uk. The closing date and time for any queries is 13th August 2019 at 5pm.
