Summary of the contracting process

The Green Finance Division of DEFRA has completed a procurement process for the Green Finance Research Project on Data Standard for GF Registries. The project, classified under general management consultancy services, had an awarded value of £226,000. The procurement method used was selective, with a call-off from a framework agreement. The contract period is from 20th February 2024 to 1st May 2024, with the tender period ending on 19th February 2024. The project location is in London, United Kingdom.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses in the consultancy services sector with expertise in green finance and data analysis. Companies well-versed in market-based nature financing schemes and those capable of contributing to the development of a Green Finance Registry would be highly suited to compete. The project aims to establish market infrastructure for Green Finance markets, with potential policy updates expected in Summer 2024 to inform further developments in the field.

Notice Title

Green Finance Research Project on Data Standard for GF Registries

Notice Description

Green Finance seek research on the information requirements for nature markets. Green Finance Division stimulated a range of market-based nature financing schemes, that allow industry to stand up schemes that channel private finance to nature recovery - alongside Defra grant awards. Defra seek to build evidence through data analysis research, to consider routes for a Green Finance Registry that brings together funding and environmental outcomes information from existing schemes and provides the service for compliance teams to manage double-funding risk. Interoperable market infrastructure was recognised as a risk for establishing Green Finance markets. We also committed to provide a policy update on market infrastructure, in Summer 2024 - this work will inform policy principles for market infrastructure.
