Notice Description

Cefas is a multidisciplinary scientific research and consultancy centre, employing over 500 staff, delivering solutions to meet the diverse needs of public and private sector businesses and organisations active in marine, coastal, estuarine and freshwater environments. In 2017 the Category 5 hurricane, Irma struck the Caribbean small island state of Antigua and Barbuda. This opportunity will examine the differences in habitat settings as a result of the hurricane as well as the changes in the coastal zone (expressed as changes in digital elevation models). A further aspect will be to estimate the inundated terrestrial landscape resulting from storm surge and run up. The main requirements will be to undertake coastal modelling, using satellite derived bathymetry and digital surface model data, provided by Cefas, to deliver the products required for the broader project.
