Notice Description

Kent County Council (the Authority) is the largest local authority in England covering an area of 3 500 km2. It has an annual expenditure of over GBP 1 billion on goods and services and a population of 1.5 million. the client provides a wide range of personal and strategic services on behalf of its residents, operating in partnership with 12 district councils and 309 parish/town councils. The Authority consists of three operational directorates (Adult Social Care and Health, Children, Young People and Education and Growth, Environment and Transport) and one service directorate (Strategic and Corporate Services). This requirement is for the Road and Footway Asset Team who are responsible for maintaining and managing the structural and surface condition of our roads, footways and cycle tracks. To effectively maintain our roads, footways and cycle tracks we undertake the delivery of renewal works to replace deteriorated areas which have reached the end of their useful life and preservation works to prolong the life of areas which are starting to deteriorate. The scope of work at each site will generally entail the cold milling of the top layers of the road structure and repaving with an asphalt surface and/or binder course. All sites will include adjustments to covers and replacement of road markings and road studs where required. Sites approaching traffic signals may require the replacement of the traffic loops. It is anticipated that many sites will require road closures and night-time working with working restrictions in place with defined times. The project consists of multiple sites. There will be several phases of work throughout the contract period, with routine work carried out between January and November each year.
