Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process titled "ASCEND: FGS in Tanzania and Zanzibar" is initiated by Crown Agents Limited, acting on behalf of the UK Government's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). This project aims to combat neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in South Asia, East and Southern Africa, specifically targeting Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS). The procurement falls under the services category with a total budget of £45,000, and the contract period spans from November 24, 2020, to May 31, 2021. The tender concluded on October 15, 2020, under private procurement rules.

This tender presents a strategic opportunity for firms specialising in health services and training, particularly those experienced in delivering competency training for healthcare workers. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to prepare proposals, as their involvement could significantly enhance local capacities in managing FGS cases among vulnerable populations in Tanzania and Zanzibar. The successful completion of this project could set a precedent for further contracts focused on health improvement in similar regions.
